Clearing the groud with Deerfield's super-charged vineyard weed-whacker was a breeze!
In this photo the area I'm clearing is where the tent will sit.
This is no simple tent! The 250 sq. ft. platform it will sit on needs a solid foundation.
My dog Tuxedo gives me some encouragement.
Cutting the wood for the floor joists. The whole deck is made out of salvaged lumber.
My father, the master architect, gives me some much needed advice.
Getting this thing level with recycled lumber was really hard!
We have the power...
I was amazed at how much this really helped!
The pallettes go on to make the structure of the deck.
He really liked it under there even with us banging on his head...
This was the only lumber that is actually new on the whole deck. It was a good thing we got it though...
Only one layer left! (Then building the actual tent of course)
We salvaged an old fence to make this floor. The nature of the material made it difficult.
I kept at it after every work day for a week to get it finished.
The floor looked beautiful after sanding.
The tent didn't come with poles. Crazy I know. So we cut and stained wood dowels and I painted the frame joints bronze.
Watco Oil Company recommends that it's product not be used for floors. Well we didn't listen and it came out great!
A first look at the tent all set up. It's very spacious on the inside.
The company truck loaded up like a jigsaw puzzle with all of my worldly possesions.
If this view isn't inspiring I don't know what is.
I think I need some steps.
I wish it was that easy in real life.
It was a really beautiful week when my tree was in bloom.
It really is a pleasent place to live.
It's nicer on the inside.
Well... Not exactly...
I had to move it into my office... I miss it in the tent though.
A microwave and a minibar. I could really use a stove.
The table has a great view.
Perfect for cards or chess. Come play me!
A mouse made his own camp Deerfield inside of my subwoofer. I guess he didn't like the noise so he broke it.
This is all the stuff I pulled out of my subwoofer. Industrious little guy.
I couldn't bring myself to off him so I drove him 10 miles down the road and let him go. Something tells me he'll be back though.
